Cutting and Grinding machine offline

The machine has been designed to cut both ends of the pipe and machine the spigot end. The model is designed for pipes of diameters from ND 300 mm up to ND 3000 mm.
The machine is equipped with lifting tables on rails in order to position the pipe in the center line of the cutter and grinder and in order to handle pipes from 2 to 12 meters in length.
The cutter and the grinder device are equipped with a control device to obtain the desired depth of the grinding and cutting operation.
If the offline machine is located in the proximity of the continuous machine, its dust aspiration system can be connected to the main dust aspiration system. If the final approved plant layout does not allow this, a separated aspiration unit will be provided for the Cutting and Grinding Machine at an additional cost which will be calculated on a case to case basis.

 

Rollerway

The roller way designed by VEM combines 4 m and 6 m modules with 2 rollers per meter. One module has one motor linking all the rollers by a chain. The modules can be fixed for the pipe linear transfer or mobile for the pipe loading/discharge from the CW machine to/from the auxiliary and testing machines. The roller way is fully controlled by PLC, the transfer speed is regulated in order to adapt the movement to different diameters of the transported product.
Our design office is at Customer’s disposal to elaborate an individual roller way solution according to the Customer’s requirements, in order to provide the continuity of the process flow by connecting the CW machine with auxiliary, testing and other areas.
The roller way scope of supply includes a set of spare parts intended to guarantee the proper operation of the device.

 

Fast Diameter change

The fast diameter change allows the off-line preparation of a new mandrel assembly before a diameter change takes place, carried out during the continuous winding machine operation. It allows one to save time during the normal operations for changing diameter assemblies, by decreasing the planned downtime hours during a diameter change and the winding machine setup.
While the continuous winding machine is producing a particular diameter of pipe, the operator is able to assemble the new mandrel carcass made of a “cage of discs, tie rods and aluminum beams” for the new diameter pipe, using a special workbench and supported by an overhead the travel crane.
The fast diameter change is recommended for the diameter ND 600 up to ND 1400 mm since they are the most commonly manufactured pipes.
When needed, VEM is capable of extending the range of the fast diameter change, designing special and customized “cage of discs, tie rods and aluminum beams” and a customized workbench.
Please also note that a new set of aluminum beams and tie rods is needed in order to prepare the new cage.

 

Premixing Sand system

The premixing sand system is a stand-alone device that is installed on the continuous winding machine in order to mix the sand and the resin before applying the said on the GRP pipe. Mixing the resin and the sand before feeding them on to the pipe surface allows one to achieve a better compaction and homogeneity of the mixture thus decreasing the waste of raw material compared to applying them separately on the pipe by the direct drop method. Less resin is thus consumed due to the improved contact and distribution with the sand particles.
