Water/Sewer
Composite fiberglass reinforced pipes have since years conquered their position on the international pipe market. GRP, GRE and GRV pipes have found their widest application in the civil and industrial infrastructure sector. A high inertness of the internal pipe layer has made them suitable for the drinking water transportation. The absence of corrosion, which is one of the most frequent reasons of the existing pipeline wear, has made composite pipes one of the most advantageous solutions for the sewer transportation. The problem of the oxidation of sewer products, which is one of the main reasons of deterioration of concrete and steel pipeline, is no longer actual for FRP pipes. The same is valid for the external corrosion of pipes due to the soil impact and ground currents. The smoothness of the internal surface prevent scaling and deposit formation. GRP/GRE offers a series of advantages even compared to other modern plastic materials. The fact that this material belongs to thermosetting distinguished it from the thermoplastic material and pipes made thereof providing a higher thermal stability and better mechanical properties such as a higher stiffness, strength, resistance to wear. The composite nature of GRP/GRE contributes to the above mentioned mechanical properties rendering the pipes more resistant to internal and external loads, pressure, creep, fatigue, etc.
All these features make fiberglass reinforced composite pipes an outstanding solution in water and sewage transportation. The installed pipes do not need cathodic protection they do not require additional coating or painting. The installation operations are quite simple due to the pipe weight and the types of joints that allows to save on heavy equipment, as well as on the number and qualification of personnel.
